abgeFRACKt: Neue Welt

Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 – also known as the Symphony "From the New World" – is one of the most popular works of classical music. Why? Because it strikes directly to the heart! Dvořák composed it in the USA, when he first heard the sounds of spirituals and music of the indigenous population. He mixed these influences with his unmistakable style full of melodies that you can't get out of your head. The symphony takes you on a journey: from the longing English horn solo in the second movement, which sounds like a reminiscence of home, to the thrilling finale, exuding pure spirit of adventure. And if you listen closely, you might even discover the film music that was later inspired by this symphony – from "Jaws" to "Star Wars"! At our abgeFRACKt concerts, some things are different: the orchestra does not wear tails on stage. Also, no one has to worry about clapping at the wrong time. If you want to learn more about the music, download the free Wolfgang app on your smartphone and receive explanations about the work live during the concert. Afterwards, we invite you to stay and enjoy the abgeFRACKt cocktail (also non-alcoholic), a glass of wine or beer at the "Tutti" café, relax, chat, or look out over the city from the balcony.
