Richard Wagner is known for his overwhelming operas. Through the power of a love potion, Tristan and Isolde are fatefully drawn to each other, but Princess Isolde is promised to Marke, the king and Tristan's liege lord. In secret, the lovers live out their connection, which inevitably must be discovered and lead to a catastrophe. Wagner has found a musical language for this, which one can hardly resist despite its excessive length...
